Henna: More than just a pretty design!  This flowering plant has been used for centuries to dye hair, skin, and even clothes!  Found in subtropical regions of Asia, Africa, and Australia, henna holds a special place in India's rich heritage. 🇮🇳 They cultivate some of the world's best henna, used to create beautiful temporary tattoos and hair dye. ✨

The powder comes from the leaves of the henna plant which contain the red coloring pigment (lawsone). Lawsone is at its strongest when the leaves are ground into a powder.
The henna plant has been used to adorn bodies since the Bronze Age and is one of the safest substances you can apply to your skin, with an extremely low rate of sensitization. Henna is a natural antiseptic and also acts as a natural sunblock. If you do have a reaction, it is more likely to be a sensitivity to the essential oils in the paste (see list of ingredients below). Henna tattoos are not recommended for children with anemia or G6PD deficiency (Glucose-6-Phosphate Dehydrogenase deficiency which causes anemia).

Henna House 901 uses 100% natural ingredients: Henna plant powder, sugar, molasses, lemon juice, cajeput oil (same family as both eucalyptus and tee tree but slightly milder and smells better!) and lavender oil (mild as always).
Once the henna is applied to the skin, you should leave it on as long as possible (at least 2 hours). We recommend to leave the paste on for 4-6 hours, no longer than 12-14 hours. The longer you leave it on the skin, the darker the stain will be.
Wondering how long your henna tattoo will last?  Henna stains the top layer of your skin, typically lasting 10 days to 2 weeks as it naturally exfoliates.

Want to extend the magic? ✨ Use an all-natural balm when it gets wet and avoid the pool/ocean! #HennaTattooTips #LongLastingHenna
Henna stains the darkest on the areas of the skin that are thicker, so elbows down to hands and knees down to feet tend to be the darkest staining areas.
1. Allow the henna paste to dry for 20-30 minutes.
2. Keep the paste on as long as possible, ideally 4-6 hours for best results. Then brush/scrape the dried henna paste off. If you have trouble removing the paste, you can pour plain lemon or lime juice (not water) onto the paste. Rub it in a little to loosen the paste and wipe off immediately. You should see an orange stain left behind on the skin, which will darken over the next few days.
3. For the next 24 hours after the paste removal, avoid getting water on the design if possible. Chemically treated tap water can keep it from getting its darkest.
4. For the next 3-4 days after paste removal, avoid putting any barrier such as lotion or oil on the design while it darkens. The henna stain needs oxygen to darken.
5. The design will get its darkest around day 2 or 3 with a beautiful reddish-brown mahogany color or indigo/black color if you choose our new Midnight Henna! The design will gradually fade away over the next 2 weeks.
